1. I will have something planted in the garden by June 15, and have at least ½ of the space planted all summer long.
2. I will not use any synthetic chemical pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers or weed repellants in or around my plot.
3. I will not pick produce from anyone’s plot but my own.
4. I will be mindful of my neighboring gardens, being careful not to step on their gardens. I will water only my plot.
5. When I water my own garden, I may choose to help water the herbs planted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church along the fence in the paved area of the garden. These herbs (i.e. basil, parsley, chives, dill etc.) are planted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church FOR SHARED USE by the community gardeners. Feel free to harvest as you wish in exchange for participation in watering the herbs.
6. Gardeners are strongly encouraged to make use of mulch to conserve on the use of water in the garden.
7. I will take care in my use of tools and the garden amenities, always thinking of the next person.
8. I will keep weeds down within and maintain the pathways adjacent to my plot.
9. If my plot becomes unkempt, I understand that I will be given one week’s notice to clean it up. At that time, it will be re-assigned or emptied.
10. I will keep trash and litter cleaned from my plot, adjacent pathways and surrounding areas.
11. Children must be supervised. I will not bring pets to the garden area.
12. I will be responsible for cleaning up my garden by October 15.
13. If I am away from my plot for an extended time (i.e., for vacation) and haven’t made arrangements with someone to harvest my garden, I will notify the garden coordinator so my produce may be picked for The REACH, ECHO or Salvation Army.
14. If I must abandon my plot for any reason, I will notify the coordinator.
15. I grant Bethlehem Lutheran Church, employees and agents the right to photograph myself and my dependents and use the photo for publication purposes, whether electronic, print, or digital, and waive any rights of compensation or ownership thereto.
I have read and understand this covenant. I understand that gardening in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church gardens is a privilege and that failure to meet these requirements will result in forfeiture of my garden.
